Q: Do I need to fill out a form to homeschool my children? A: YES! Click on the icon below to access the Georgia Department of Education Home Study Program Declaration of Intent. Georgia law requires parents or guardians who teach their children at home to submit to the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) an annual Declaration of Intent form. A Declaration of Intent must be submitted to the Georgia Department of Education within 30 days after establishment of a home study program and by September 1 annually thereafter.
Q: When can I register/apply to be a part of Christ Centered Homeschoolers? A: We are currently accepting applications to be on our waiting list for the 2024-2025 school year! Registration typically is open during June. All applicants will be notified via email once a decision has been reached.
Q: How can I visit an event or meeting prior to joining the group? A: We would love to meet you and have you get to know us better! Visitors are welcome to come to two events prior to membership (two support group meetings, or one meeting and one field trip), as well as attend our park days. Please contact us for more information!
Q: Does your group offer classes? A: Our main focus is relationship-building and supporting homeschool mothers. We are not a traditional co-op in that we do not offer formal, scheduled classes. Occasionally a family will offer to lead a group of students through material such as a biology lab or history showcase, however that is solely volunteer-based and not a part of our yearly schedule.
Q: How many families are in Christ Centered Homeschoolers? A: We typically have around 50-80 families in our group per year.
Q: Is participation mandatory for the monthly moms' meetings and kids' activities? A: The only meeting we require your attendance is our first Mom's support meeting & brunch in August. But don't worry! It's simply so we can put a face to a name and begin to connect with our members. All other meetings and activities are optional, however we strongly recommend participating in as many events and meetings as possible. Our desire is that you feel wholly supported, seen, and engaged while you're a member of CCH - the best way to do that is dive right in!
Q: What are my yearly responsibilities as a member? A: Each member is required to do the following through the course of each school year:
Join a committee to help organize a CCH event. (For instance, the Mom's Christmas Party, the Fall Family Fellowship, Field Day, etc.)
Organize one field trip or activity during the year. This can be for the whole group, or for a smaller group such as kids within a certain age range. Some moms organize a simple play date at their home centered around their child's current interest! We have loads of ideas for you too if you're not sure what you'd like to do.
Sign up to help bring snacks for one monthly Mom's Support Meeting. This will be alongside other moms who also sign up for the same month!
Don't worry! These responsibilities are spread out over the course of an entire school year, so they won't hit all at once. We have seen that they help enrich the group by encouraging participation and collaboration. If you have questions about member participation and responsibilities, please contact us.
Q: As a member, what kind of field trip or activity can I organize? A: There are so many options! You could choose a more traditional field trip like Zoo Atlanta, the Georgia Aquarium or a local farm; or you could simply organize a get-together at your home, the library, the ice-cream shop...the possibilities are endless! Feel free to reach out to our field trip coordinator for more suggestions and ideas!
