Statement of Faith
We believe:
- The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes completed and final revelation. Nothing has been added to it and it is the only source of divine truth. The Bible is without error in whole and in part, including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical detail. (2 Timothy 3:16; Revelations 22:18-19)
- God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, except without sin. (John 1:1-18)
- All men are in violation of God’s righteous requirements and his holy character, both by nature and act; and are therefore under God’s wrath and judgment. The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through his death on the cross – the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by his subsequent visible bodily resurrection. (Romans 3:10, 23; & 6:23)
- Salvation is offered as a gift; free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works, but the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image. All other sexual relations are forbidden. (Genesis 1:26-28; Leviticus 18:6-30)
- The husband is to love the wife as Christ loved the church. His responsibility is to provide for, to protect, and be the spiritual leader of the family. The wife is to submit herself to the servant leadership of her husband as the church submits to the headship of Christ. Her responsibility is to respect her husband and serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation. Children are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to teach their children spiritual and moral values, through words and lifestyle example, to discipline in love in order to encourage choices based on Biblical truth. Children are to honor and obey their parents. (Ephesians 5:21-33; & 6:1-4)
- In Christian education there should be a proper balance between academic freedom and academic responsibility. As parents, we are charged to take an active roll in our children’s education, both academically and spiritually. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Proverbs 6:20)
- God forbids pagan practices such as witchcraft, fortune telling, casting spells, consulting with familiar spirits, interpreting omens, and contacting the dead. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12)
- God created man and woman in His image as two distinct but equal genders which He intends to use for His glory (Gen. 1:26-27). Furthermore, individual gender is assigned by God and determined at conception (Ps. 139:13-16). Therefore, we believe that to intentionally alter or change one’s physical gender or to live as a gender other than the one assigned at conception is to reject God’s right as a Creator to assign gender to His creatures and is a personal rejection of His plan to glorify Himself through the original gender he assigned that individual (I Cor. 10:31).
